Saturday extension to accommodate passport applications
Starting July, the Department of Foreign Affairs-Office of Consular Affairs (DFA-OCA) will be open on Saturdays just to keep up with the long list of applicants who wish to secure a Philippine passport. Furthermore, the OCA is looking into issues which have cropped up after the implementation of the new appointment system, such as the multiple registration by applicants and other technical glitches. More OCA personnel are being trained in anticipation of the additional workday with the accompanying increase of workload for consular services. The DFA, however, expects the passport applications to decline by next month.
